National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Every child deserves to be seen, celebrated, and brought home. Today, we honour that truth..
September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
It's a day to honour the Survivors of Canada's residential school system, and to remember the children who never made it home. It's a day to sit with a history that is painful, ongoing, and still not fully reckoned with — and to listen, more than to speak.
We're pausing our usual content today. This isn't the place for a product message.
If you're looking for ways to mark the day, a few starting points:
Wear orange, in recognition of Orange Shirt Day — the origin story, from founder Phyllis Webstad, is worth reading at the Orange Shirt Society
Take time to learn — from Survivor testimony, from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, from Indigenous writers, educators, and community members
Support Indigenous-led organizations doing this work directly, such as the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and the Indian Residential School Survivors Society
We'll be back to our regular content after today. Thank you for taking a moment with us.
For official imagery and materials related to Orange Shirt Day, visit the Orange Shirt Society directly — the orange shirt and "Every Child Matters" are Phyllis Webstad's story and the Society's trademarked work, not ours to reproduce.
